St. John's to announce new cardiac cath labs

St. John's Health System will host a news conference at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 in the cardiac catheterization lab on 3NE at St. John's Regional Health Center to announce the opening of two new state-of-the-art cardiac cath labs as part of St. John's Master Sites and Facilities Plan.

The labs, which bring the health center's number of cath labs to six, are located adjacent to the existing labs on 3NE and will allow St. John's to better meet the volume of cardiology patients, as well as keep up with the latest technology in cardiac cath procedures.

St. John's performs 6,000 total cath lab procedures a year, of which 2,000 are cardiac interventional procedures. This makes St. John's one of the busiest hospitals for cardiac cath procedures in Missouri, and in the top tier of cardiac cath lab volumes in hospitals in the United States. St. John's will also announce St. John's Hammons Heart Institute's national Acclaim Award, which are awarded by the American Medical Group Association in recognition of clinics and health care systems for initiatives and programs that demonstrate dedication to excellence and quality in health care.
