Brigadier General to present lecture on the local impact of the war on
terrorism

Brig.
Gen. C. William Fox, Jr., M.D., will present a continuing medical education (CME)
lecture entitled "Local Impact on Supporting the War on Terrorism" 7 a.m. Dec.
10 in the McAuley Room at St. John's Hospital.
Gen. Fox is a board-certified urologic surgeon and Commander of the Great Plains
Regional Medical Command. He previously served as Commander, 44th Medical Command,
XVIII Airborne Corps surgeon and the director of health services at Fort Bragg.
Under his command, the 44th Medical Command has supported medical operations in
Operation Noble Eagle throughout the United States, Operation Enduring Freedom
in Uzbekistan and Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait and Iraq.
The event is sponsored by Lt. Col. Clyde R. Redmond, M.D., St. John's Clinic -
Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery. Lt. Colonel Redmond and Gen. Fox served
together in Operation Enduring Freedom and Afghanistan in 2003. Redmond served
as chief surgeon of the 948th Forward Surgical Team.
Gen. Fox will discuss General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital's role
regarding deploying service members. His lecture will also describe the role of
the Army Medical Department in Operation Iraqi Freedom & Operation Enduring
Freedom. The lecture will also recognize the impact for Springfield in
supporting the war on terrorism.
Currently, several St. John's co-workers serve in Iraq and Afghanistan.
