U.S. Marines to present St. John's Fitness Center with Certificate of Commendation
Nov. 4, 2004

Staff Sergeant Robert Carlson and other representatives from Reserve Weapons Company 3rd Battalion, 24th U.S. Marines will present St. John's Fitness Center staff with a certificate of commendation at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8 at the Fitness Center, 202 E. Walnut Lawn in Springfield.

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Marines use the Center for fitness activities and physical rehabilitation of those coming back from service in Iraq.

"The staff at the fitness center played a key role in our unit's combat readiness," Carlson said. "The support we received also helped rehabilitate injured Marines returning from Iraq, and kept local Marines at†the high state of physical fitness America expects from its Marines."
