Tips On…Heat-Related Illness

As summer temperatures rise, so does the potential for heat-related illnesses. In hot weather, it is best to exercise indoors or early in the day. For outdoor activities, take a rest and liquid break every 30 minutes. Drinking beverages with caffeine can contribute to dehydration. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. Ask your doctor whether your medications make you less tolerant of ultraviolet light or heat.
