St. John's Health System

Integrated health delivery system serving southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas

  • Ranked No. 1 in Verispan’s 100 Top Integrated Health Networks survey.
     
  • Implemented final phase of the Epic Electronic Health Record.
     
  • Approved by the state to purchase the IS2000 daVinci S Surgical System with high definition, launching St. John’s Robotic Surgery Program.
     
  • Introduced a new, consumer-driven health plan option for employees in addition to the current HMO plan. The new plan actively supports healthier lifestyle choices as well as encourages co-workers to become knowledgeable health care consumers.
     
  • Received fourth consecutive Consumer Choice Award from National Research Corporation as the “Most Preferred Health System” in southwest Missouri, based on image and quality ratings.
     
  • Leadership was restructured to enhance integration of system. The new structure partners physicians with administrators at every level. The key restructured bodies are the Executive Council, the Operations Council and the System Operating Groups. Notably, Donn Sorensen, COO of St. John’s Clinic, and Jon Swope, president of St. John’s Hospitals, have additional new titles of executive vice president.

St. John’s Clinic
Physician clinic organization comprised of approximately 460 employed physicians, 90 mid-level providers and 1,800 workers, with 73 locations throughout southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas. 

  • Again awarded a "Superior Performance" certificate by the Medical Group Management (MGMA).

St. John’s Hospital
Springfield, Missouri

866-bed general acute care hospital  

  • Honored with the “Project of the Year” at the annual Salute to Design and Construction Banquet for the $101 million 360,000-square-foot eight-story Patient Tower.
     
  • Maternity, Newborn Nursery and Women’s Surgical completed the patient moves to the Patient Tower in August.
     
  •  Auxiliary received recognition from the Missouri Hospital Association as Missouri’s Auxiliary of the year. In May, the Auxiliary donated $100,000 to purchase equipment for the Cath Lab.
     
  • The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit celebrated 25 years of caring for sick and preterm babies.
     
  • Awarded “Breathe Easy Springfield Award” from the American Lung Association for implementing a smoking ban for all patients, visitors and employees.
     
  •  Institute for Healthcare Improvement featured St. John’s Hospital department 3B on its Web site for eliminating cases of hospital-acquired MRSA surgical site infections.

St. John’s Hospital-Lebanon
Lebanon, Missouri

48-bed general acute care hospital 

  • Opened St. John’s Curry Cancer Center.

  • Expanded Emergency Department and medical/surgical unit.

  • Increased hospitalist program to provide 24-hour coverage for adult medical patients.

St. John’s Hospital-Aurora
Aurora, Missouri

25-bed critical access hospital

  • St. John’s Hospitals in Cassville and Aurora participated in friendly competition to raise funds to feed the hungry in their region. The two hospitals raised nearly 9,000 pounds of food and nearly $2,000.
  • Now offering stress testing & nuclear medicine services five days per week (between Aurora and Cassville).
  • Joint Commission recertification completed.
  • Extensive renovation of chapel, nurses station, cardiac rehab, rehab services, several patient rooms completed.
  • Facility Upgrades: Life Safety Code Improvements.
  • Improved hand hygiene compliance.
  • Auxiliary recognized by Missouri Hospital Association.

St. John’s Hospital-Cassville
Cassville, Missouri

25-bed critical access hospital

  • Installed Omnicell drug dispensing cabinets in Emergency Department and medical/surgical unit as part of the Mercy Meds medication administration program.

  • Received certificate of recognition by American Diabetes Association for diabetes education program.

  • Implemented new central monitoring system in Emergency Department.

St. John’s Hospital-Berryville
Berryville, Arkansas

25-bed critical access hospital

  • Implemented hospitalist program.

  • Opened ophthalmology and orthopedics clinics.

  • Installed new patient monitoring equipment in Emergency Department and intensive care unit.

  • Obtained grant assistance for pediatric sleep apnea screenings.

 

St. John’s-St. Francis Hospital
Mountain View, Missouri

25-bed critical access hospital

  • Third consecutive year ER Press Ganey patient satisfaction  scores above the 90th percentile.

  • Added full time general surgeon in March.

  • Recruited hospital's first ever CFO.

  • Sr. C. Blasko Foundation donated $90,000 for telemetry monitoring  system.

  • RAC  (Recovery Audit  Contractor)  Team formed and completed four audits.

  • Pulmonary Function equipment received in Respiratory  Therapy.

St. John’s Health Plans
Largest managed care provider in the region, with more than 300,000 covered lives

  • Nurse on Call awarded Health Call Center accreditation from URAC.

  • Launched consumer directed health plan option for St. John's co-workers.

  • Signed several multi-year direct contracts with large employers.

  • Launched disease management pilot program for patients with Coronary Artery Disease.

  • Introduced online health risk assessment and accompanying educational programs.
