Mission Statement, Philosophy & Purpose
.................................................................................................................................................

St. John's Life Line Air Medical Service functions within the scope of St. John's Health System and provides quality emergency care.

We recognize that all persons requesting our services are individuals created in the image and likeness of God and should be treated with compassion, respect and dignity in the spirit of equality.

All individuals requiring the services of Life Line are treated and stabilized with appropriate dispositions made at the time of arrival to St. John's Hospital. Each individual presenting will be cared for without discrimination, with prioritization by the triage system.

Medical control is available either by phone or by radio 24 hours a day via the Emergency Trauma Center physicians. Life Line is under the medical direction of Charles Sheppard, M.D., a board certified emergency physician.

Nursing staff and equipment is available to effectively and efficiently carry out the philosophy and purpose of Life Line. All personnel providing these services are attuned to meeting the needs of the individual and his/her family experiencing a minor or major crisis. These needs include physical, emotional, social and spiritual.

Each employee attains and maintains an educational and knowledge level, which allows the provision of quality emergency care. They are aware of and respond appropriately to legislative statutes that affect care delivered by Life Line.

St. John's Life Line is committed to providing quality emergency care to all by:

¢ Developing and maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment for each
   individual.
¢ Developing and implementing process criteria which enables the
assessment of physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each
   individual.

¢ Developing and implementing a means by which an ongoing evaluation
   process can be accomplished.

In order to assist in the attainment of quality emergency care, we recognize that employees should be provided with a climate consistent with quality care and with opportunities to grow in their area of expertise to maximize their contribution in the emergency health field. Through cooperative efforts, Life Line provides quality, compassionate care associated with a good work environment.

Management is dedicated to identifying and providing staffing, equipment, and administrative climates consistent with quality emergency care which shall include educational opportunities for all personnel, implementation of research findings available, and fair application of principles and processes of a democratic management.

Life Line serves as an educational resource for appropriate training of allied health personnel through clinical activities and the utilization of personnel for lecture purposes.

Other educational experiences are made available to the general public as deemed necessary and appropriate.

Life Line stands ready to serve those individuals seeking our aid as their needs dictate and our capabilities allow. We strive to meet the holistic needs of each individual to assist in maximizing health and wellness.
